Taylor Johnson has spent more than 10 years dedicating himself to learning and applying concepts of elite sport performance and how to best serve organizations and their athletes. In order to continue his passion for all things performance, he actively seeks out experienced professionals in various fields to expand his knowledge on all actionable subject matter. This allows him to properly develop programs addressing the specific demands of the individual and their goals.

Before taking on this new endeavor in consulting, he spent 2 years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers as an Assistant S&C Coach. Over the 2015 and 2016 seasons, he was in charge of the physical preparation and rehabilitation of elite athletes as well as developing and implementing the team’s nutrition and sports science/wellness program. His focus was on developing the nutrition program utilizing evidence-based research and communicating the value of the program in an effective and simple manner to the elite athletes in order to gain their trust and ensure high compliance. He created individualized meal plans based on performance goals, organized team travel nutrition and was also responsible for coordinating with the NFL governing bodies as well as the athletes to ensure compliance with the banned substance policies of the league.

While at the 49ers he also undertook a role in researching, developing, and deploying technology solutions to help the coaching staff gain objective insights on the performance and readiness of the athletes. His primary philosophy with technology is to ensure that the data is accurate, reliable, and most importantly, actionable.

Before joining the 49ers, Johnson served as the lead assistant with the San Jose State football team’s athletic performance department. He also managed and directed all athletic performance aspects for the baseball, softball and women’s volleyball teams. In his role, he coordinated the nutrition and recovery programs for more than 400 student-athletes.

Johnson began his professional career in athletic performance working at Pac-12 (UCLA, USC), SEC (Auburn), Mountain West (San Jose State), and Big West (UC-Davis) Conference schools.

Johnson graduated from the University of California-Davis in 2011 and later earned his master’s degree in exercise science from California University of Pennsylvania in 2014. He currently holds certifications from the National Academy of Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach, Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach, and the American Red Cross CPR and AED.
